Aviation Safety Technology Institute (Analysis & Appraisal Lab of Civil Aviation Safety) Analysis & Appraisal Lab of Civil Aviation Safety is directly under the charge of Center of Civil Aviation Safety Technology CAAC (CAST), as one of the first eight scientific research bases constructed by Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). The lab focuses its research on civil aviation accident investigation, analysis, appraisal and preventive technology. Under the approval of CAAC, in principal, the lab cooperates with Failure Analysis Forecast & Prevention Research Division of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics on studies. The lab was established on December 2nd 2002. The entity of the lab is Aviation Safety Technology Institute, built up on the basis of original Flight Data Read-out and Analysis Station and Materials Failure Analysis Division. The working area of the institute is over 1,500 square meters. Based on the requirement of civil aviation safety studies, under the direction of CAAC, The lab focuses its research on air accident investigation, analysis and appraisal; flight animation; air accident prevention; aviation security; aviation safety assessment; civil aviation safety basis; safety culture; safety development rules, etc., According to the different responsibilities, the lab is further divided into Lab of Safety Analysis & Appraisal, Aviation Safety Research Division and Aviation Security Research Division.
